The Leader in Me

The Leader in Me touches our whole school through teaching 21st-7 Habits Tree Graphiccentury leadership and life skills to students. The program creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a key component of the overall The Leader in Me process. Students learn how to become self-reliant, take initiative, plan ahead, set and track goals, do their homework, prioritize their time, manage their emotions, be considerate of others, express their viewpoint persuasively, resolve conflicts, find creative solutions, value differences, and live a balanced life. The process helps students develop the skills and self-confidence they need to lead their lives and succeed in school and beyond.

Our school focuses on the 7 Habits in a variety of ways throughout the school year. A few examples include:

  • The Leader in Me/7 Habits messages in morning announcements
  • Student involvement in a variety of special interest clubs
  • Student leader recognition activities
  • Student & faculty Lighthouse teams
  • Student-led conferences
