I was born in Lebanon and at the age of 8, my family relocated to the United States due to the instability in the country. Having to learn a new language and adjust to a new culture was definitely a challenge, but this experience served as motivation for me to work with English language learners.  I have always enjoyed working with children, and this particular area seemed like a perfect fit for me.  I am better able to relate to the struggles that my students face in having to learn a second language and assimilate into a new culture.  As an ESL teacher, I am driven to help my students find the same success that I found as an ESL student.

I began my career as a bilingual aide and then went on to teach k-5 ESL for 4 years in Birmingham City.  Between 2010 and 2013, I worked as a 3rd grade teacher in my native country of Lebanon. This will be my 10th year at Pelham Oaks, and I will be working with Kindergarten,1st, and 2nd grade EL students.

I speak Arabic, and some French and Spanish. In my spare time, I enjoy arts and crafts, cultural events, practicing Spanish on the Duolingo App, and finding new ways to live an eco-friendly life.  My favorite color is pink!
